    If Christianity is anything, it is a rescue story of epic proportions.

    Against impossible odds, a long foretold prophecy comes true 
    that a child would rise to conquer the forces of evil, death and hell 
    and swing open wide the gates of paradise. 

    Sounds like something out of Lord of the Rings?  That’s because 
    every story is only as good as it connects in some way to this 
    ultimate story of overwhelming evil and the final victory of God 
    through apparent weakness. 

    But that doesn't mean that our lives are free of struggle and 
    disappointment, and occasionally even tragedy.  We have this 
    promise: ultimately "all things work together for the good of 
    those who love God." (Romans 8:28)

    The god we want is safe, predictable and mindlessly eager to fulfill 
    our every wish.  But the only true God worthy of our worship reveals 
    Himself in scripture as “glorious, mysterious and beyond all human 
    understanding.”
