We were dead in our transgressions, Children of the wrath of God. But the Father, rich in mercy, Gave His Son to shed His blood. Praise the God of our salvation For His love which took our place. Sinner, tremble and adore Him Who has saved you by His grace.

Something to think about... Hell. It’s a metaphor. It’s a swear word. It’s a joke. But the one thing “enlightened” moderns are sure of is that hell can’t possibly be real. For those who are being saved, the Cross of Jesus is the power and wisdom of God, the very Tree of Life. But for those who are perishing, the brutality of the cross is a clear warning of what the judgment of God looks like. They reject the Gospel as weak and pathetic stupidity.
So Jesus warns all of us: “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). A sentence of unimaginable severity awaits everyone who sneers at the mercy of God in the shed blood of His only Son. Hell is an uncomfortable but unavoidable truth that God reveals to us in scripture. But from the very same scriptures we have a promise foretold thousands of years ago by the prophet Joel: “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” (Joel 2:32)
